Ramo de Padrones, 1594-1865 [microform].

Microfilm of the Ramo de Padrones (volumes 1-108), from the holdings of the Archivo General de la Nación in Mexico. The ramo de Padrones contains information gathered in various censuses of Mexico. The first 48 reels constitute the Revillagigedo census, also known as the 1793 census, which was conducted under the authority of viceroy Juan Vicente de Güemes Pacheco y Padilla, segundo conde de Revillagigedo. The Revillagigedo census is comprised of counts, known as "Matriculas de Tributarios," of tributary Indians, mixed racial groups, and non-Spanish groups; lists of non-Indian males eligible for military service, which include not only information on the adult males but listings of others in the households; and an incomplete attempt to count the total population. In Addition to the Revillagigedo census, the Padrones include nineteenth-century counts of mercantile, industrial, and professional activity.

31 reels.
